Somebody near you
has what you need

And somebody near you needs what you have. A spare plate, an hour, a ladder, a seat in the car, a word with the right person. The Giving Circle is where the people around you become the people you can turn to.

Why we built it

Most of us live a long way from where we grew up. The people who would once have knocked on the door with a plate of food are in another country, and the person three doors down is a stranger.

So things go to waste. Food gets thrown away on the same street where somebody is skipping a meal. A drill gets bought for one afternoon and never used again. Somebody loses a job and tells nobody, because there is nobody to tell.

The Giving Circle is an attempt to close that gap — not with charity, which makes one person the giver and the other the one in need, but with the ordinary back and forth of people who look after each other. Today you have something spare. Next month it is you asking.

That is the whole idea. Everything in the app is built to serve it.

1 billion

meals are thrown away every day, by households alone — while people who could have eaten them live streets away.

Sharing a meal in The Giving Circle is free for everyone, member or not. It always will be.

What's inside

Twelve ways to reach the people around you. Everything happens directly between members — The Giving Circle is where you find each other, and the rest is yours.

Giving — free for everyone, always

Share a Meal

Free for everyone

You cooked for six and four came. Post what is left, say where you are, and somebody nearby comes for it while it is still warm.

They claim it, they collect it, you both confirm it happened. Nothing gets thrown away and nobody had to ask twice.

Give Back

Free for everyone

For people in real difficulty — a medical bill that cannot wait, a family that has run out of options. You can bring a case forward on somebody's behalf, or help one that is already there.

Every case is reviewed by our team before it is shared, and whoever submits it puts their name and their word behind it. Money goes directly from one member to another; The Circle never touches it and takes nothing from it.

The everyday

Trade

Membership

Sell the things you have finished with, and find the things you need, among people who are not strangers. A cot, a desk, a bike that fits your daughter now.

Every seller confirms the item is theirs to sell and honestly described, including anything wrong with it.

Borrow

Membership

A ladder for one afternoon. A drill for one shelf. A suitcase for one trip. Ask to borrow it instead of buying a thing you will use once and store for a decade.

Ask, and whoever has one offers it — free, or for a small amount if they would rather.

Jobs

Membership

Both sides of it. Post an opening you are trying to fill, or say what work you are looking for and let the people hiring find you.

Most jobs are found through somebody who knows somebody. This is that, written down.

Offer Help

Membership

An hour, a skill, a lift to the airport, help moving a sofa. Not a job and not for money — just something you are willing to do for whoever needs it.

Getting there, and getting things there

Transport

Membership

You drive to Abu Dhabi every Sunday with three empty seats. Somebody else is paying for a taxi to the same place. Offer the seats, or say where you need to get to and when.

One trip or every week, with the days and the time it leaves.

Send & Carry

Membership

Papers from home. Medicine you cannot get here. Keys somebody left behind. Someone in The Giving Circle is flying that way this week and has room in their bag.

A favour between members, never a paid service and never freight — and nothing sealed is ever carried. The bag is opened and looked into, every time.

Together

Events

Membership

A barbecue, a desert night, a birthday with room for more. Say where and when, and see who is coming — with names, so a host knows what they are cooking for.

Activities

Membership

The things that are better with other people. A run at six, a football game short of two players, a class somebody is starting.

Communities

Membership

You are already in The Giving Circle with everyone else. Inside it are smaller ones — your building, your profession, the place you are from. Join as many as you like, start your own, or stay exactly as you are.

Anything you post can go to everyone, or only to the communities you choose.

Pets

Membership

A cat that needs a home, a dog that has gone missing, an animal hurt and needing treatment nobody can afford alone. Or simply somebody to walk yours while you are away.

Offers

Coming soon

Discounts from restaurants, clinics, salons and more across the UAE. We are onboarding merchants now.

We give back to the people who give

Every so often we put 5,000 AED back into the community. You cannot buy your way in, and membership does not get you a place. It is earned, by feeding somebody.

1

Share a meal

Post the food you have spare, and where you are.

2

Someone collects it

A member nearby claims it and comes to you.

3

You both confirm

Once you both say the food changed hands, you are both enrolled.

Both people have to confirm, because a meal nobody came for helps nobody. The giveaway is open to everyone — members and non-members alike.

Membership

Two things stay free for everyone, forever: sharing a meal and Give Back. Nobody should have to pay to feed someone, or to ask for help on behalf of a person who needs it. Membership opens the rest.

3 months free

Then a small monthly membership, shown in your own currency when you join.

  • Post anywhere in The Giving Circle
  • Message any member without giving out your number
  • Join communities, or start your own
  • Cancel any time, from inside the app
  • Handled by Apple and Google — we never see your card

It starts with one plate

You do not have to do anything big. Share what you were going to throw away, lend the thing sitting in your cupboard, take the seat in somebody's car. That is the whole of it.
